A 1955 Housing Stock in a Small Borough
The typical Mount Holly Springs home was built in 1955, and the county's older-home pattern holds true here: knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp service and outlets with no ground. None of it is a crisis, but all of it is worth a look before you add a major appliance.
Our electricians also cover Boiling Springs, Carlisle and Plainfield, so the same local crew is never far from Mount Holly Springs. Call 717-274-2700 any hour.
PPL Electric Utilities serves most of the borough, with Met-Ed and Adams Electric Cooperative covering other parts of Cumberland County. We confirm which one applies before scheduling.
Common Electrical Projects in Mount Holly Springs Homes
A 1955 fuse box in Mount Holly Springs was built for a smaller electrical load than most households run today. Central air, a home office and an electric range can push 60-amp service past its limit, which makes a panel upgrade one of our most requested jobs here.
Knob-and-tube remnants and ungrounded outlets often come as a pair in houses this age. We trace the wiring that's still live, retire what isn't, and add grounding or GFCI protection where it's needed.
Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Mount Holly Springs
Mount Holly Springs issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, relying on a third-party inspection agency rather than its own building department, as most boroughs this size do. We handle the filing and the inspection appointment for you.
PPL Electric Utilities serves most of the borough, with Met-Ed and Adams Electric Cooperative covering other parts of Cumberland County. A panel upgrade or new meter base needs a scheduled disconnect and reconnect, which we arrange directly. A street-wide outage belongs to the utility. A problem at your panel belongs to us.

Mount Holly Springs Electrical FAQs
How many people live in Mount Holly Springs?
About 2,373, based on the most recent count. It's a small borough, and every call gets the same treatment: a licensed electrician, a written quote and a fully stocked van.
Is my 1955 fuse box safe to keep using?
It can still function, but 60-amp service leaves little room for modern appliances, and older fuse panels run hotter under load. Most homeowners upgrade when they add central air or a large appliance.
Who do I call if the power goes out in Mount Holly Springs?
A street-wide outage goes to PPL, Met-Ed or Adams Electric Cooperative, depending on your address. If only your house is dark, the problem is likely on your side of the meter, and that's ours.
Does Thomas Edison Electric offer financing for panel upgrades?
Yes. Financing is available for larger projects, so ask about flexible payment options. You'll still get a full written quote before anything is scheduled.
