Thomas Edison Electric's Clinton County electricians dispatch from their own homes in fully stocked TEE vans. Three electric providers cover Clinton County. PPL Electric Utilities is the primary. United Electric Cooperative and Tri-County Rural Electric Cooperative serve their own territories. Cooperative members follow a different process for service upgrades and meter work than PPL customers do. The application, the meter base they want to see and the disconnect scheduling all differ. We ask which one bills you on the first call, and we work with that company directly. That way nothing goes to the wrong place.
What we can't fix is the utility's side: poles, lines, transformers and the meter. A whole road going dark is their job. What we can fix is everything on your side of the meter. That runs from a main breaker that won't hold to a single dead outlet in the back bedroom. We're on call for that, day and night, all year.
Clinton County is large and much of it is rural. That's why we bundle whenever you'll let us. A panel upgrade, a dedicated circuit for the workshop and a full safety inspection in one trip cost you less and get more done. We also serve Lycoming, Union and Potter Counties, and the electricians who cover them are the same local employees who cover Clinton.
Half the houses in Clinton County predate 1967, and their wiring has outlived its design life. The work comes in a predictable sequence.
The branch circuits come first. Aluminum wiring was common in this period, and its connections loosen with decades of heating and cooling. A warm cover plate or a flickering fixture is the early warning. We fix it with rated connectors, or a rewire when the runs are damaged.
Then the panel. 100 amp service, sometimes a fuse box, sometimes a breaker panel with no spare slots. Replacing it with a 200 amp panel, coordinated with PPL or your cooperative, is a job we quote often here. See circuit breaker repair and upgrades.
Then the outlets. Two-prong receptacles have no ground path. We ground them where possible or protect them with GFCI devices.
Finally, the additions: a standby generator for the long rural lines, a dedicated circuit for a well pump, and an electrical safety inspection before you sell or after you buy.
Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code puts electrical permits in the hands of the municipality, and in Clinton County most townships and boroughs hire a third-party inspection agency instead of running their own building department. So Lock Haven's process isn't Renovo's or Loganton's, and the inspector may be different for each. That's fine. The permit is filed under our license, the inspections are scheduled to match the work, and we're there when the inspector arrives. You get the closed permit for your files.
The utility piece is where three providers make things interesting. PPL customers follow PPL's service upgrade process. Members of United Electric Cooperative or Tri-County Rural Electric Cooperative follow the cooperative's, which is different in the details. We submit the paperwork to the right company and book the disconnect and reconnect. The boundary is always the meter: their equipment outside it, our responsibility inside it.

Clinton County Electrical FAQs
A licensed electrician who works directly for Thomas Edison Electric, not a subcontractor. Our electricians dispatch from their own homes in the region, and their TEE vans go out fully stocked. We plan visits so more gets done per trip, and emergency calls run through the same 24/7 dispatch as the rest of our territory, holidays included.
Not harder, just different. United Electric Cooperative and Tri-County Rural Electric Cooperative each have their own application and meter requirements, separate from PPL's. We take care of that paperwork for you. Once the power is past the meter, the work and the written quote are the same as for anyone else.
Three things, in order. Aluminum branch wiring connections checked and corrected. The 100 amp panel evaluated and, often, replaced with 200 amp service. Two-prong outlets grounded or GFCI-protected. An electrical safety inspection puts all three in writing with a quote for each, so you can fix the urgent items first.
No. You approve a written quote before we start, and that is what you pay unless you change the scope. Financing is available for larger jobs like a generator or full panel replacement, so ask about flexible payment options. And if we arrive after the window we promised, the dispatch fee is waived.
