Four different utilities deliver power in Dauphin County, which is more than most counties we serve. PPL Electric Utilities is the primary utility. Met-Ed serves other areas. And two boroughs, Middletown and Royalton, run their own municipal electric systems. If you live in Middletown, the borough is your utility, not PPL, and that changes who we coordinate with when we upgrade your service or replace a meter socket. We sort that out before we schedule the job.
The line is the same in every case. The utility owns the poles, the lines and the meter. We own everything after the meter: the panel, the circuits, the outlets, the lights and whatever you plug into them. If the outage is on their side we will tell you so and save you a service call.
Our Dauphin County customers are in Harrisburg, Hershey, Hummelstown, Middletown, Highspire, Grantville and the smaller towns like Halifax, Millersburg, Gratz, Williamstown and Lykens. We also reach across the county line into Cumberland, Lebanon, Lancaster, Perry, York, Schuylkill, Juniata and Northumberland counties.
