A 1938 build usually means the original panel is long gone, but what replaced it decades ago often wasn't much better. Knob-and-tube wiring left in the walls, a fuse box instead of breakers, and outlets with no ground are the norm rather than the exception in a borough this age.
None of that is an emergency by itself, but it's worth knowing what you're working with. We swap fuse panels for breaker boxes, retire any remaining knob-and-tube runs, and add grounding through circuit breaker repair and upgrades or a standalone safety inspection.
