A house built in 1947 has usually been through at least one partial upgrade, and sometimes that upgrade was itself decades ago. Fuse boxes get swapped for breaker panels that are now aging out themselves. Knob-and-tube wiring sometimes stays behind walls that were never opened again. Neither is automatically dangerous, but both are worth a look.
We check the panel first, since it tells us the most about what else is likely in the walls. From there, circuit breaker repair and upgrades or a safety inspection gives you a clear next step instead of a guess.
Dauphin Borough issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, and like most of Dauphin County, it hands plan review and inspection to a third-party agency rather than running its own building department. We handle the filing and the inspection scheduling as part of the job.
