Copper wiring is the norm in a 1980 Audubon house, which is good news. The catch is the panel. Builders installed 100 to 150-amp services that suited the loads of the day. Then came the heat pump, the hot tub, the second refrigerator and the electric car. One by one they fill the panel until a new circuit has nowhere to go.
That is why so much of our Audubon work starts with a load calculation. We add up what the house actually draws, and then we tell you whether the existing service can carry the next project. Sometimes it can. When it cannot, a 200-amp upgrade comes first, and the quote for both steps comes in writing.
Our electricians are employees of Thomas Edison Electric, not subcontractors, and they start from their own homes near Audubon, Fairview Village and Mont Clare. PECO Energy Company owns the lines and the meter. The remnants of Hurricane Ida flooded Montgomery County in September 2021 and cut power across the county. That storm is a big reason we bring up standby generators here. As a certified Generac dealer, we sell, install and service them.

Audubon is a community, not a borough, so the township issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code. Most Montgomery County townships hand plan review and inspections to a third-party agency. That is fine with us. We pull the permit, set the inspection and stand there when the inspector opens the panel. Your written quote already includes it.
PECO Energy Company delivers power to ZIP 19407. A panel upgrade or a new meter base needs PECO to pull the meter and then reconnect it. We book both visits and line them up with our own schedule. Downed lines and neighborhood outages belong to PECO. The panel, the circuits and the charger in the garage belong to us, day or night.

Audubon Electrical FAQs
Maybe. Many 1980s homes have a 100 to 150-amp panel that is already close to full. We run a load calculation first. If the numbers work, the charger goes on a new dedicated circuit. If they do not, we quote a 200-amp upgrade alongside it, in writing, so you can decide.
Yes. A hot tub needs its own dedicated circuit with GFCI protection and a disconnect within sight of the tub. We check the panel capacity, run the circuit and pull the township permit. Because the parts ride in the van, the electrician who quotes it can usually install it on the next visit.
The Ida flooding of September 2021 cut power across Montgomery County, and a sump pump does not run without it. A standby generator with an automatic transfer switch starts on its own. As a certified Generac dealer we size it, install it and service it, with financing available.
