Christiana's housing stock runs older than much of the county, with a typical home dating to 1941. Knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp services and ungrounded outlets are still common finds behind the walls.
None of that is unusual for a house this age, and none of it has to stay that way. We upgrade fuse boxes to breaker panels, replace remnants of knob-and-tube wiring, and add grounded, GFCI-protected outlets throughout. Christiana Borough issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code. As in most boroughs in the county, a third-party agency handles plan review and inspections rather than the borough itself.
