Most of our calls here are about capacity. Across Bucks County, 100-amp panels are common. So are aluminum branch wiring, two-prong outlets and recalled Federal Pacific or Zinsco panels. Add an EV charger or a heat pump to a full 100-amp panel and something has to change.
The usual answer is a 200-amp panel upgrade, which also retires any recalled panel in the same visit. From there, a Level 2 EV charger gets its own circuit. The garage, workshop or kitchen picks up dedicated circuits that no longer share a breaker with the lights.
Two-prong outlets come out, and grounded or GFCI outlets go in. And after the Ida floods of September 2021 across Bucks County, we still check any panel that stood in floodwater.
The village has no borough government, so the township issues your permit under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code. Most Bucks County townships send plan review and inspections to a third-party agency. Your electrician pulls the permit, lines up the inspection and is on site when the inspector comes.
