Wiring From an Older Hartleton Home

The typical Hartleton home dates to 1938, some of the oldest housing stock in the county. Knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp services and ungrounded outlets are still common in houses from that era, and we treat all four as routine work, not a surprise.

A 60-amp service rarely keeps up with a modern kitchen, let alone amperage upgrades for a heat pump or workshop. We also handle the newer requests an older house never planned for, like running data and communication lines for a home office.

As a borough, Hartleton issues its own permits, and PPL Electric Utilities, Citizens Electric Company and Mifflinburg Borough Electric all serve homes here depending on the block.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Hartleton

Hartleton Borough issues electrical permits directly, under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code. Like most boroughs this size, it relies on a third-party inspection agency to review plans and check finished work rather than running its own building department. We file the permit, schedule that inspection, and stand with the inspector until the job is signed off.

Three utilities serve homes in and around Hartleton: PPL Electric Utilities, Citizens Electric Company, and Mifflinburg Borough Electric. A panel upgrade or new service needs a disconnect and reconnect at the meter, and we coordinate that with whichever one bills you. Outages on their lines are their repair. Everything from the meter into the house is ours, any hour.

Light fixture service

Mike from Thomas Edison Electric replaced our out-of-service-life whole-house surge protectors and repaired a lighting fixture for our deck. He did an excellent professional job. He didn't try to sell us things we didn't need. I highly recommend Mike.
