Electrical Service in and Around Malvern

Malvern's typical home goes back to 1974, which usually means aluminum branch wiring, a 100-amp panel and two-prong outlets somewhere in the mix. Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels, both since recalled, still show up on our inspections too.

Paoli sits 1.4 miles away, Devault 2.8, and our crews cover both the same way they cover Malvern: from home, not a shared yard. PECO Energy Company meters most of the borough, while PPL Electric Utilities and Met-Ed / Penelec pick up other pockets of Chester County. Reach us at 610-520-1300.

Common Electrical Projects in Malvern Homes

The panel comes first in most Malvern jobs. A 1974 build usually means 100 amps, and a Federal Pacific or Zinsco label means the panel itself needs to go, not just get patched. A 200-amp upgrade solves both problems in one visit.

A warm cover plate or a flickering light is often a loose aluminum connection underneath. We remake those joints with rated connectors, ground any two-prong outlet that needs it, and wire in a dedicated circuit for a Level 2 EV charger when asked.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Malvern

Malvern Borough handles electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, and like most of the county, it contracts the plan review and inspections out to a third party. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection and are there when the inspector shows up.

PECO Energy Company meters most homes in Malvern. A panel swap or service upgrade needs a disconnect and reconnect at their end, which we arrange. Line damage outside the house is PECO's to fix; everything from the meter in is ours, day or night.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

Malvern Electrical FAQs

Do you send an electrician to Malvern at night?

Yes, any hour. We're on call 24/7, 365 days a year, and the electrician who shows up dispatches from home in a fully stocked TEE van. Call 610-520-1300 whenever the problem starts.

Will my 1970s Malvern panel handle an EV charger?

Check the amperage first. A 100-amp panel from the 1970s often can't spare a full circuit for a Level 2 charger. If it's tight, or the brand is Federal Pacific or Zinsco, a 200-amp upgrade is the fix.

Should I call Thomas Edison Electric or PECO when the power drops?

Look outside first. A whole dark street points to a PECO outage, restored on their own timeline. A single dark house, or just a few rooms, usually means the trouble is past the meter, and that part is ours.

What's worth inspecting before buying an older Malvern house?

The panel label and the branch wiring. Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels get replaced, not repaired, and aluminum wiring needs every connection checked. A safety inspection covers both, quoted in writing first.
