The typical Mercersburg home dates to 1942. Houses from that era often still have knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp services and ungrounded outlets, none of which were built for today's appliances.
We start every visit with the panel and the grounding, since a fuse box or an ungrounded outlet usually needs attention before anything else. An electrical safety inspection covers both, and a panel upgrade to modern breakers and amperage often follows.
Mercersburg Borough issues electrical permits under the state's Uniform Construction Code, and like most Franklin County boroughs, it works with a third-party inspection agency rather than its own building department. We handle the paperwork.
Met-Ed and Penelec serve Mercersburg Borough and the land around it. A service upgrade or new panel means a disconnect and reconnect at the meter, and we handle scheduling that with the utility. Downed lines are the utility's repair; anything past the meter is ours, any hour.
Our Pennsylvania and New Jersey experts are ready to resolve your electrical woes.

Mike from Thomas Edison Electric replaced our out-of-service-life whole-house surge protectors and repaired a lighting fixture for our deck. He did an excellent professional job. He didn't try to sell us things we didn't need. I highly recommend Mike.
