The Thomas Edison difference
Your Newville Electricians
Looking for a Newville electrician? Thomas Edison Electric covers this Cumberland County borough of 1,283 people, ZIP 17241, along with Walnut Bottom and Plainfield close by. Many Newville homes date to 1938, so knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes and 60-amp services still turn up on service calls.
Our electricians are direct employees who dispatch from their own homes in fully stocked TEE vans, not subcontractors. We hold PA license PA075449, answer any hour, and put every price in writing before work starts. Call 215-227-7000 whenever the problem shows up.

Electrical Work in Newville's Older Homes
Plenty of what we do here is smaller than a full rewire: a stuck breaker, a dead kitchen outlet, a fixture that buzzes. Because Newville homes often still run on knob-and-tube remnants or a 60-amp fuse box, we also get regular calls to swap that old panel for a modern breaker box. Circuit breaker repair and upgrades covers that job start to finish.
Ungrounded outlets are common in houses this age too, so a two-prong receptacle near water or a workbench is worth a look. We ground what we can and add GFCI protection where that isn't practical. A quick safety inspection settles the question either way.
Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Newville
Newville borough issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code. Like most small boroughs, it leans on a third-party agency for plan review and inspection instead of running its own building department. We pull the permit, book the inspection and walk the inspector through the finished work.
PPL Electric Utilities delivers the power here. PPL owns the lines and the meter, so a panel upgrade means we schedule a disconnect and reconnect with them. A street-wide outage is PPL's fix. A dark house next to a lit-up street is ours.
