The Thomas Edison difference

Your Pocopson Electricians

Pocopson Township, ZIP 19366, sits between Mendenhall and West Chester in central Chester County. Thomas Edison Electric's electricians here are direct employees, not subcontractors, and they dispatch from their own homes in fully stocked TEE vans rather than a shared yard.

We're licensed under PA075449, fully insured, and family-owned across more than one generation. Every job gets a written quote up front, we answer 24/7, and a late arrival means the dispatch fee is on us.

Electrical Service in and Around Pocopson

Most Pocopson homes date to around 1986, meaning copper wiring is already in place. The limit is capacity: a 100 to 150-amp panel from that decade wasn't sized for a heat pump, hot tub and EV charger pulling power together.

Mendenhall sits 3.0 miles from Pocopson and West Chester 4.3, both covered by the same crew that answers here. PECO Energy Company is the main utility, with PPL Electric Utilities and Met-Ed / Penelec serving other stretches of Chester County. Reach us at 610-789-8100.

Common Electrical Projects in Pocopson Homes

A 1986 Pocopson home usually has copper branch wiring, so we spend most of our time on the panel. A 100-amp service was common then, and it gets tight once a heat pump, a hot tub and an EV charger all want a circuit. A 200-amp upgrade clears that up in a single visit.

Since the remnants of Hurricane Ida brought flash flooding to parts of Chester County in September 2021, we also field calls to check panels and outlets that took on water. A submerged panel can look fine and still fail later from corrosion, which is why a post-flood safety inspection is worth scheduling.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Pocopson

Pocopson Township issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code. As in most of Chester County, plan review and inspections go through a contracted third party rather than an in-house department, and we coordinate that on your behalf.

PECO Energy Company meters most of Pocopson. A panel upgrade or service change needs a disconnect and reconnect at their end, which we schedule directly. Storm damage to the lines is PECO's; everything from the meter in is ours, any hour.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

Pocopson Electrical FAQs

Can I reach an electrician in Pocopson after hours?

Yes, any time. We're on call 24/7, 365 days a year, and the electrician who responds dispatches from home in a fully stocked TEE van. Call 610-789-8100 as soon as the problem shows up.

My basement in Pocopson took on water during Ida. Should the wiring be checked?

If it hasn't been inspected since, yes. The September 2021 flooding put electrical equipment in some Chester County basements underwater, and corrosion can cause failures well after everything looks dry. We test and document what's safe.

Is a 1986 Pocopson panel enough for an EV charger?

Sometimes, but it's worth checking. A 100-amp panel from 1986 can be tight once everything else is added up. If there's not much headroom, a 200-amp upgrade is the answer, and we coordinate the meter side with PECO.

How do I know if a Pocopson outage is on PECO's side?

Check outside first. If the whole street is dark, that's a PECO outage, restored on their schedule. If it's just your house, the issue is likely past the meter, which falls to us to fix.
