Installing a Level 2 home EV charger in Pennsylvania typically runs $2,125 to $3,800 all in, from the 31 charger jobs we completed over the last year and a half. The charger, circuit, breaker and permit on their own come to $1,575 to $2,925; the rest is other work done on the same visit.
The ranges on this page come from our own completed jobs across Pennsylvania and New Jersey: the middle half of real invoices, everything on the job before discounts, refreshed every month. Half of our clients paid inside the range, a quarter paid less and a quarter paid more.
What the price covers
A new 240 volt dedicated circuit from the panel to the charger location: needed on 74% of our EV jobs.
A 40, 50 or 60 amp breaker sized to the charger.
The charger mounting and connection. You supply the charger; we install any brand, including Tesla Wall Connectors and ChargePoint.
The permit and inspection where the township requires one.
What moves the price
The distance from the panel to the parking spot, and whether the run is through finished walls, a crawl space or outside in conduit.
Panel capacity. A full 100 amp panel may need a load calculation, a load management device or a service upgrade before the charger can go in.
Hardwired or plug-in. A NEMA 14-50 outlet is the simplest; a hardwired charger allows a higher charging rate.
Outdoor installs need weatherproof enclosures and GFCI protection.
What the visit looks like
The service expert checks the panel, measures the run, confirms the charger you bought and gives a written price. Most installs finish in half a day. We register the permit and schedule the inspection.
Questions people ask
Do I need a permit for an EV charger in Pennsylvania?
Most townships require an electrical permit for a new 240 volt circuit. We handle it.
Will my panel handle a charger?
Often yes at 200 amps. At 100 amps it depends on what else is in the house; a load calculation decides, and a load management device can make it work without a service upgrade.
Can I plug a charger into my dryer outlet?
Not safely as a permanent setup. A dedicated circuit is the code-compliant path and the one your charger warranty expects.
How many EV charger calls do you get?
270 in the last twelve months, and the number grows every year.
