Adamstown's Newer Homes and Growing Power Needs

Adamstown's newer housing stock, with a median build year of 1996, mostly runs on copper wiring already, so that is not the concern here. The concern is panel capacity. A 100 to 150-amp panel sized for a 1990s household can run out of room fast once a heat pump, a hot tub or an EV charger gets added.

PPL Electric Utilities serves much of Adamstown, and Met-Ed covers parts of the surrounding area too. Either way, the utility owns the poles, lines and meter, and we coordinate directly with whichever one serves your address whenever a service upgrade needs a new meter base.

We also serve Reinholds, Bowmansville, Reamstown and Denver, so an Adamstown call reaches the same crew working the rest of the area.

Common Electrical Projects in Adamstown Homes

A 1996 Adamstown home usually has sound copper wiring, so the real question is capacity. A home EV charger needs a dedicated circuit, and a heat pump or hot tub adds real load too, which is why we start with a panel check and, when needed, a circuit breaker upgrade to 150 or 200 amps.

Whole-home surge protection is a common add-on for houses this age, since 1990s panels rarely came with it. We also wire dedicated circuits for workshops, hot tubs and kitchen remodels, sized correctly from the start.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Adamstown

Adamstown Borough issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, and like most Lancaster County municipalities, it relies on a third-party agency for inspections. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection and handle the walkthrough, all folded into your written quote.

PPL Electric Utilities serves much of Adamstown, with Met-Ed covering nearby areas. We confirm which utility owns your meter before a service upgrade, then schedule the disconnect and reconnect around our crew's visit.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

We've Got Answers.

Adamstown Electrical FAQs

Is there a 24-hour electrician who covers Adamstown?

Yes. We answer 24/7, 365 days a year, holidays included, and the electrician who responds lives in the area and drives a stocked TEE van from home. Call 610-777-7600 whenever the problem shows up.

Can my Adamstown home handle a Level 2 EV charger?

Often, yes, since most homes here have copper wiring already. The real question is panel capacity, so we run a load calculation and give you a written price for the charger circuit, plus a panel upgrade if the existing one is close to full.

Is my Adamstown home on PPL or Met-Ed?

It depends on your exact address. PPL Electric Utilities serves much of Adamstown, while Met-Ed covers other parts nearby, and we check which one owns your meter before scheduling any upgrade.

Do you install whole-home surge protection in Adamstown?

Yes. Many homes built in the 1990s never got one, and a surge protector at the panel guards everything in the house at once, sized to your panel with a written price first.
