Electrical Service in and Around Denver

The typical Denver home dates to 1975, an era of aluminum branch wiring, 100-amp panels and two-prong outlets. A recalled Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel is worth checking for too.

Denver is also one of the few spots in the county with more than one electric utility. Most addresses run on PPL, but some inside town limits run on Ephrata Borough Electric instead. We confirm which one serves your house before scheduling any panel upgrade.

Common Electrical Projects in Denver Homes

A 1975 home in Denver usually means aluminum branch wiring feeding a 100-amp panel, sometimes under a Federal Pacific or Zinsco label. We treat a recalled panel as a straight replacement, and a 200-amp upgrade usually comes with it.

Loosened aluminum connections show up as warm switch plates or flickering lights, fixed with rated connectors. We also run dedicated circuits for well pumps and mini-split heat pumps as they get added.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Denver

Denver Borough issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, and like most boroughs here, uses a third-party agency for inspections. We pull the permit and schedule the inspector as part of your written quote.

For most of Denver, PPL Electric Utilities is the utility, though some addresses run on Ephrata Borough Electric instead. Either way, an upgrade means a disconnect and reconnect at the meter, and we confirm the right utility and book it.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

Denver Electrical FAQs

Is my Denver electric utility PPL or Ephrata Borough Electric?

It depends on the exact address. Most of Denver runs on PPL, but some properties inside the borough use Ephrata Borough Electric instead. We confirm which one serves your house before scheduling any upgrade or meter change.

Is there a 24-hour electrician for Denver and the area around it?

Yes. We answer 24/7, 365 days a year, holidays included, with electricians who live around Lancaster County. Call 610-777-7600 any time, and the crew arrives in a fully stocked van, ready to work.

My Denver home has a Federal Pacific panel. Should I worry?

It's worth scheduling a look. Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels were recalled over breakers that can fail to trip. A 1975-era home is a common place to find one, and we quote the replacement in writing first.

Do you also cover Stevens, Reamstown and Reinholds?

Yes. The same electricians covering Denver reach Stevens, Reamstown, Reinholds and Ephrata too. Coverage and the written-quote process stay the same everywhere, and the number to call stays 610-777-7600.
