Electrical Work Across Glen Rock

Flickering lights and a fuse that blows before anything feels overloaded are common calls in Glen Rock, where most houses go back to the mid-1950s. Knob-and-tube segments, 60-amp service and two-prong outlets without a ground tend to show up together, not one at a time.

The same electricians who cover Glen Rock also answer calls in Railroad and Shrewsbury. Everyone on our team is a direct employee, and every quote is written before work starts.

Common Electrical Projects in Glen Rock Homes

A mid-1950s Glen Rock house usually needs the panel checked first. A fuse box works until there is no fuse left rated for what you are running. A panel upgrade solves that and opens room for a generator or EV charger later.

Knob-and-tube segments and two-prong outlets come next. We trace what is live, retire what we can reach, and swap ungrounded outlets for grounded or GFCI-protected ones.

For anything added since, like ceiling fans or a home office, we run a dedicated circuit instead of overloading the nearest outlet.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Glen Rock

A permit comes first for any panel work in Glen Rock. Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code governs the process, and the borough, like most in the county, contracts a third-party agency to review plans and inspect the finished job. That paperwork is ours to handle, start to finish.

Met-Ed is the electric utility here. A meter move or service upgrade needs Met-Ed to disconnect and reconnect, and we schedule that alongside the work so you are not waiting around. Line outages are Met-Ed's to fix. Anything past the meter, any hour, is ours.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

Glen Rock Electrical FAQs

Do you send electricians to Glen Rock at night?

Yes, any hour. Calls run 24/7, 365 days a year, and the electrician who answers dispatches from home, not a distant yard. Call 717-274-2700 whenever the problem starts.

Why does my Glen Rock house still have a fuse box?

Because it was likely built around 1955, when fuse boxes were standard. They cap what you can run at once and cannot host modern GFCI or AFCI breakers, so most upgrades start there.

Is Met-Ed or Thomas Edison Electric responsible for my outage?

If the whole block is dark, that is Met-Ed, and their crews handle the repair. If only your house lost power, the issue is likely on your side of the meter, which is ours.

Can Glen Rock's older wiring handle a modern generator or EV charger?

Usually, after a quick check. A 1950s panel may have room for a transfer switch, but a Level 2 charger can call for an upgrade first. We check it and put the answer in writing.
