The Thomas Edison difference

New London Electricians, Local and Direct

New London Township, ZIP 19360, sits among Kelton, Lincoln University and Kemblesville in southern Chester County. Thomas Edison Electric's electricians here are our own employees, not subcontractors, working out of their own homes in fully stocked TEE vans rather than a central yard.

We're licensed under PA075449, fully insured, and family-owned across more than one generation. Every job gets a written quote before it starts, we answer 24/7, and a late arrival means the dispatch fee comes off automatically.

Newer homes, real capacity checks

1990s panels often need a load calculation before adding an EV charger or heat pump.

Electrical Service in and Around New London

New London's housing is newer than a lot of what we see in Chester County, with a median build year around 1995. Copper wiring is standard, so the work here is about whether the panel can keep up with a heat pump, a hot tub or an EV charger.

Kelton is 2.1 miles from New London and Lincoln University 2.9, covered by the same crew that answers here, dispatching from home. PECO Energy Company is the main utility, with PPL Electric Utilities and Met-Ed / Penelec serving other parts of the county. Reach us at 610-789-8100.

Common Electrical Projects in New London Homes

A 1995 New London home typically has copper branch wiring already in place, so our visits center on the panel rather than the walls. A 100-amp panel was standard then, and it runs short quickly once a heat pump, a hot tub and an EV charger are all competing for circuits. A 200-amp upgrade fixes that in one trip.

A Level 2 EV charger needs a dedicated circuit sized off an actual load calculation. Whole-home surge protection comes up often too, since a 1990s panel predates most of today's sensitive electronics.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in New London

New London Township issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, and like most of Chester County, it uses a third-party agency for plan review and inspections. We pull the permit and are there for the inspection.

PECO Energy Company serves most of New London. A panel upgrade or a new EV circuit needs a disconnect and reconnect at their meter, which we schedule. Line damage is PECO's to fix; everything behind the meter is ours, any hour.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

New London Electrical FAQs

Is there a 24-hour electrician for New London?

Yes. We answer 24/7, 365 days a year, and the electrician who comes out dispatches from home in a fully stocked TEE van. Call 610-789-8100 whenever the issue starts.

Can a 1990s New London panel run an EV charger and a heat pump together?

Often, but only after a load calculation. A 100-amp panel from 1995 can run short once both loads are added up. When the math is tight, a 200-amp upgrade is the cleanest fix.

How can I tell if an outage in New London is PECO's or mine?

Look outside first. A dark street usually means PECO, and they restore their own lines. If it's only your house, the trouble is probably past the meter, which is our side to fix, any hour.

Is whole-home surge protection worth it in New London?

For a lot of homeowners, yes. Modern electronics are more sensitive than what a 1990s panel was designed around, and one surge can damage several devices at once. It installs once at the panel and keeps working.
