Oxford homes cluster around a 1980 build year, right where aluminum wiring was phasing out in favor of copper. Copper is what we find most often, but the 100-amp panels from that decade rarely have room left for a heat pump or an EV charger without an upgrade.
We cover Lincoln University, 3.2 miles from Oxford, and Nottingham, 3.4, with the same crew that answers calls in the borough itself. PECO Energy Company is the main utility, and PPL Electric Utilities and Met-Ed / Penelec serve other stretches of Chester County. The number is 610-777-7600.
Panel capacity drives most of the work we do in Oxford. A 1980 build usually shipped with 100 amps, plenty for the appliances of the day but tight once central air, a hot tub or an EV charger joins in. A 200-amp upgrade buys the room back in one visit.
A handful of panels from this era still carry the Federal Pacific or Zinsco name, both recalled since installation, so we check the label on every call regardless of what brought us out. A Level 2 EV charger gets its own circuit, sized to what the panel can actually support.
Oxford Borough issues electrical permits the way most of Chester County does, under the state's Uniform Construction Code, with plan review and inspection handled by a contracted third party. We pull the permit and handle the inspector's visit ourselves.
PECO Energy Company meters most of Oxford. A panel upgrade or service change needs their disconnect and reconnect at the meter, which we schedule directly. Storm damage on their lines is PECO's repair; everything past the meter is ours, any hour.

It's worth an inspection. Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels from that era were recalled and are generally replaced rather than repaired. We'll check the label and give you a written number the same visit.
Sometimes, but check first. A 100-amp panel from 1980 often has little headroom left once everything else is running. If it's close, or the brand is recalled, a 200-amp upgrade is the fix.
Step outside. If the whole block is dark, that's PECO, restored on their schedule. If it's just your house, the issue is likely past the meter, which is on our side to fix, any hour.
