The typical Perkasie house went up around 1972. Homes from that stretch often have aluminum branch wiring, a 100-amp panel and two-prong outlets. Recalled Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels come from that era too. When we open a panel here, the brand on the label is the first thing we read.

Aluminum branch wiring leads the list here. Warm switch plates, flickering lights and a faint burnt smell at an outlet all point to loose aluminum joints. We remake each joint with the right connectors, or we pull new copper to those rooms. Then the two-prong outlets get a real ground or GFCI protection.
Panels come next. A 100-amp panel from 1972 rarely has room for a heat pump or a Level 2 EV charger. If the label reads Federal Pacific or Zinsco, the panel comes out either way. A 200-amp panel upgrade solves both problems. Inside the borough, we set it up with Perkasie Borough Electric.
Since the 2021 outages, standby generators round out the list. We are a certified Generac dealer, so we size, install and service them.
Perkasie Borough issues electrical permits under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, usually through a third-party inspection agency. Homes past the borough line fall under their own township, and each one runs the process a bit differently. Either way, we pull the permit, book the inspection and stand there when the inspector shows up. The permit cost lives inside the written quote.
The borough also runs its own electric system, Perkasie Borough Electric, so a service upgrade or meter change inside the borough goes through the borough. Across much of the rest of Bucks County, PECO Energy Company is the utility. We book shutoffs and reconnects with PECO just as often. Outages on the lines belong to whichever utility you have. Everything from the meter into the house belongs to us.
