Spring City's typical home dates to 1948, some of the oldest housing stock in this part of Chester County. Knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp services and ungrounded outlets are still common in the borough's older sections. We check the wiring type before we quote anything.
Birchrunville, 5.8 miles away, and Valley Forge fall inside our coverage too, along with Devault further east. Being right on the Schuylkill, Spring City sees its share of high water, and Hurricane Ida's remnants brought flash flooding to parts of Chester County in September 2021.
Start with the wiring. A 1948 Spring City home may still have knob-and-tube in the attic, live in some spots, abandoned in others. We trace it, disconnect what's not needed, and rewire the rest safely.
Next, the panel. Fuse boxes and 60-amp services were normal in 1948 and don't leave much room now. A 200-amp upgrade clears the fuses and adds capacity for a heat pump or EV charger. Ungrounded outlets get grounded or GFCI protected.
Because the borough sits on the Schuylkill, we also get called for standby generators more than most towns nearby.
Electrical work in Spring City needs a permit under the state's Uniform Construction Code. The borough, like most Chester County municipalities, uses a third-party agency for plan review and inspection instead of an in-house department. We file, schedule and attend the inspection.

Not automatically, but it needs a look. Knob-and-tube from 1948 can carry load safely unless it's buried in insulation or spliced into newer circuits. We check what's live and give you a written plan first.
It can. High water and electrical equipment don't mix, and a flooded panel can look fine and fail later from corrosion. If your basement has flooded and nobody checked the panel since, that's worth doing now.
Usually, once we check the panel. A 60-amp or fuse-based service rarely has room for a Level 2 charger, so we upgrade to 200 amps first and handle the PECO scheduling.
