The Thomas Edison difference
Ready to call a Harveys Lake electrician who isn't reading from a script? Thomas Edison Electric covers this Luzerne County lake borough, ZIP 18618, plus Shawanese, Lehman and Dallas.
We're family owned and multigenerational, holding PA license PA075449 with full insurance. Nobody we send is a subcontractor. Every electrician passes a background check, trains weekly, and shows up with a written quote before starting work. If we run late, the dispatch fee is on us.
Harveys Lake calls go to Thomas Edison staff, dispatching from home in stocked TEE vans.
Aluminum branch circuits, 100-amp panels and recalled panels are routine work for us.
We schedule the meter-side disconnect and reconnect for any upgrade around the lake.
No surprise pricing, ever.
Nights and weekends get the same licensed electrician as a Tuesday afternoon.
PA075449, 4.8 stars on Google, over 37,000 jobs completed since 2021.

Homes around Harveys Lake tend to date to 1974, right in the middle of the aluminum-wiring years. Aluminum branch circuits, 100-amp panels, two-prong outlets and the occasional recalled Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel all show up in this stretch of the county.
PPL Electric Utilities powers the area. PPL handles the outages and the poles. From the meter in, panel, wiring, every outlet, that side is ours. Our crews also cover Shavertown, Sweet Valley and Luzerne. Call 215-227-7000 any hour and talk to a person, not a menu.
A 100-amp panel was standard when most Harveys Lake homes went up, and it runs thin fast once a dock, a hot tub or central air joins the load. A 200-amp upgrade buys room for all three.
Aluminum branch wiring is the other common thread from this era. Loose connections at outlets and switches are where it usually causes trouble, and we fix those with rated connectors or new copper.
Waterfront living also means dedicated circuits for pumps and outdoor equipment, and many homeowners around the lake ask about a generator for when the power drops.
Harveys Lake Borough issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, and like most boroughs here it uses a third-party inspection agency instead of its own building department. We file the permit, book the inspection and meet the inspector for you.
PPL Electric Utilities serves the area. A panel upgrade or new meter base needs a PPL disconnect and reconnect, and we schedule that piece. Outages and line repairs outside are PPL's job. Everything past the meter is ours, day or night.
Our Pennsylvania and New Jersey experts are ready to resolve your electrical woes.

Mike from Thomas Edison Electric replaced our out-of-service-life whole-house surge protectors and repaired a lighting fixture for our deck. He did an excellent professional job. He didn't try to sell us things we didn't need. I highly recommend Mike.

Harveys Lake Electrical FAQs
Yes. We answer 24/7, 365 days a year, and our electricians dispatch from home around the lake, not a distant shop. Call 215-227-7000 whenever the problem shows up.
Often, after we check the panel. A 100-amp panel from this era can be tight once you add either one, and we size the upgrade to fit both.
If the outage covers the whole street, that's PPL's to restore. If only your house is dark, that points to your panel or wiring, and that's ours.
Yes. We file with the borough under the state Uniform Construction Code, schedule the third-party inspection, and handle the walkthrough. The cost is in your written quote up front.
