Done here lately

A 100-amp panel upgrade, an exterior meter base, a Square D emergency panel, garage LED lighting and a brass sconce.

1938 wiring understood

Fuse boxes, knob-and-tube remnants and 60-amp services are the borough's usual finds.

Emergency panel swaps

When a panel fails at night, a licensed electrician replaces it, not a temporary patch.

Lighting with taste

Sconces, garage LEDs and kitchen fixtures, wired safely on boxes that can hold them.

Recent Jobs in Jenkintown

Our vans have been busy in the borough. Recent Jenkintown jobs include a 100-amp panel upgrade, a new exterior meter base and a fresh Square D panel on an emergency call. Add LED lighting for a garage and a brass wall sconce. That mix says a lot about the housing here. Older homes need panels and meters brought up to date, and their owners still want the place to look right.

The typical Jenkintown house dates to 1938. A house that old can still hide knob-and-tube in the attic, run on 60 amps through a fuse box and lack a ground at most outlets. Add central air or a car charger and the limits show fast.

Common Electrical Projects in Jenkintown Homes

Panel and meter work come first. A fuse box or a tired 100-amp panel becomes a 200-amp service, often with a new meter base on the outside wall. PECO pulls and resets the meter, and we schedule it.

Lighting comes a close second. A brass sconce or a row of garage LEDs is simple work. The box behind it has to carry the weight, and the wire needs a ground. Our custom lighting work covers both. Ungrounded outlets get GFCI protection or a new ground along the way.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Jenkintown

Jenkintown Borough issues its own electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code. Like most boroughs in Montgomery County, it uses a third-party agency for inspections. A panel swap, a new meter base or a garage circuit each needs one. We file it, book the inspector and stand beside the work during the check. The cost lives in your written quote.

PECO Energy Company supplies the borough. Meter bases and service upgrades need a PECO disconnect and reconnect, which we arrange. Street outages belong to PECO. The panel and everything past it belong to us, at any hour.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

Jenkintown Electrical FAQs

Have you worked in Jenkintown lately?

Yes. Recent jobs include a 100-amp panel upgrade, a new exterior meter base, a Square D panel on an emergency call, garage LED lighting and a brass wall sconce. Each came with a written price first.

My Jenkintown panel died at night. Is that an emergency?

Yes. A dead panel means no heat, no fridge and no lights, so we treat it as urgent at any hour. One recent Jenkintown call like that ended with a new Square D panel.

Does a 1938 Jenkintown house need a new meter base?

Often. A 200-amp service needs a meter base rated for it, and many old ones are not. We replace the base, PECO resets the meter and the borough inspects it.

Can you hang a sconce on an old plaster wall?

Yes, once the box behind it can take the weight. We replace the box if needed, ground the wire and mount the fixture straight.
