The 1964 house arrived with a 100-amp panel, two-prong outlets and, in many cases, aluminum branch wiring. Recalled Federal Pacific or Zinsco panels turn up often as well. Each of those is a known issue with a known fix, and the label inside the panel door tells us most of what we need before we open a wall.
Aluminum joints loosen and run warm. We remake them with rated connectors or replace the run with copper. A Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel comes out and a modern panel goes in, usually with a step to 200 amps so the house can take a heat pump or an EV charger later.
Delaware County also lived through Ida's remnants in September 2021. If your Morton basement flooded then, the panel and the low outlets deserve a check.
