Oley's typical home dates to 1966, right when aluminum branch wiring was standard and 100-amp panels were the norm. Those connections loosen over time, which can show up as warm outlets or lights that dim under load. Two-prong outlets and, on occasion, a recalled Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel round out the list.
We remake loose aluminum connections with rated connectors, add grounding or GFCI protection, and handle panel upgrades up to 200 amps where the load calls for it. Temple and Fleetwood see the same era of housing, and the same crew answers in both.
Oley has no borough government of its own, so electrical permits go through the township under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code. As with most of Berks County, the township typically hires a third-party agency to review plans and inspect the finished work rather than running its own building department. We handle the permit, the scheduling and the inspection visit.
Met-Ed, billed as Penelec in parts of the county, is the main electric utility around Oley, and PPL Electric Utilities covers other areas. A service upgrade or meter move needs their disconnect and reconnect, which we book. Line damage is theirs to fix; the meter inward is ours, any hour of the day.
