Electrical Service in and Around Temple

Temple's typical home dates to 1955, an era that can mean knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp service and ungrounded outlets, sometimes layered with later updates. We start every job by checking the panel, since that tells us most of what we need to know.

We handle fuse box and breaker panel upgrades, rewiring for outlets that were never grounded, and additions like a home EV charger or dedicated circuit for a workshop. Bigger jobs and small repairs get the same licensed electrician and the same written quote.

Blandon, Leesport and Reading all share the same crew that answers here, so a Temple call and a Reading call get the same response.

Common Electrical Projects in Temple Homes

A 1955 house in Temple often still carries its original fuse box or an early breaker panel, and central air, an electric dryer or a home office can push either one past its limit. Replacing it with a modern 200-amp panel is one of our most common jobs in the area.

Knob-and-tube remnants and ungrounded outlets tend to travel together in houses this age. We ground what we can, add GFCI protection where a true ground isn't practical, retire any knob-and-tube wiring still carrying a live circuit, and wire in dedicated circuits for a growing kitchen or home workshop.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Temple

Temple has no borough government of its own, so electrical permits go through the township under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, typically through a third-party agency the township hires for plan review and inspections. We handle the filing, the scheduling and the inspector's visit so you don't have to track any of it down.

Met-Ed, which also bills as Penelec in parts of Berks County, is the primary electric utility around Temple, with PPL Electric Utilities serving other areas. A panel upgrade or meter move needs a disconnect and reconnect on their end, and we schedule both. Storm damage to the line is the utility's job; the meter inward is ours, any hour of the day or night.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

Temple Electrical FAQs

Do you send electricians to Temple at night?

Yes, 24/7, 365 days a year, holidays included. Our electricians dispatch from their own homes around Berks County, not a distant yard, arriving in a fully stocked TEE van ready to finish the job. Call 610-777-7600 whenever the problem shows up.

My Temple house was built in the 1950s. What should I expect?

Often a fuse box or an early breaker panel, sometimes knob-and-tube remnants, and outlets that were never grounded. None of that is unusual for the era. We inspect first and give you a written quote for whatever needs attention.

Is the power outage on my end or the utility's?

Check outside first. If neighbors are dark too, that's a Met-Ed or PPL outage, and they handle the repair. If only your house lost power, the issue is likely on our side of the meter, and we can get to it any hour.

Can an older Temple panel handle an EV charger?

Sometimes, but a Level 2 charger needs its own circuit and real headroom on the panel. A fuse box or a full 60-amp panel usually can't support one without an upgrade first. We check and give you a written price either way.
