The Thomas Edison difference
Shickshinny electricians from Thomas Edison Electric cover this borough of roughly 638 people in ZIP 18655, plus Glen Lyon, Huntington Mills, Hunlock Creek and Wapwallopen nearby. Small towns get the same Luzerne County crew as the cities do.
That crew is made up of direct employees, not subcontractors, dispatching from home in fully stocked TEE vans. We hold PA license PA075449, carry full insurance, and answer 24/7, including holidays, with a written quote before anything starts.
Small enough that we know it well, not too small to matter.
Fuse boxes, knob-and-tube remnants and 60-amp service are familiar work.
We sell, install and service standby generators here.
Every electrician on the job works directly for Thomas Edison Electric.
No surprise pricing, ever.
Nights and weekends get the same crew as a weekday morning.
We're dedicated to building lasting relationships with every client through exceptional service and guaranteed results.

Transparent pricing means written quotes with no surprises.
The typical Shickshinny home dates to 1948. That means knob-and-tube remnants still tucked in some walls, a fuse box instead of breakers, 60-amp service, and outlets with no ground pin. None of it was built for today's appliances.
We start by checking the panel and the grounding, then move to what the rest of the house needs. A fuse box becomes a modern breaker panel through circuit breaker repair and upgrades, and ungrounded outlets get GFCI protection. Thinking about a generator for the next storm? We're a certified Generac dealer, and that quote comes in writing too.
Shickshinny is its own borough, so it issues electrical permits directly, though like most Pennsylvania municipalities it leans on a third-party agency for plan review and inspection rather than running that office itself. The rule behind it all is the state's Uniform Construction Code. We handle the filing and stand there for the inspection.
PPL Electric Utilities supplies power to this stretch of the county. A panel or service upgrade means a disconnect and reconnect on PPL's end, and we schedule that as part of the job. Outages and downed lines are PPL's to fix. From the meter into your house, that work is ours, any hour.
Our Pennsylvania and New Jersey experts are ready to resolve your electrical woes.

Mike from Thomas Edison Electric replaced our out-of-service-life whole-house surge protectors and repaired a lighting fixture for our deck. He did an excellent professional job. He didn't try to sell us things we didn't need. I highly recommend Mike.
