A 1976 build year puts many Shohola houses in the aluminum wiring era. Builders ran aluminum on branch circuits to save on copper, and aluminum expands and contracts more than copper, so connections loosen over time. Warm cover plates and flickering lights are the usual signs, and we remake those connections with rated connectors or new copper.
The panels from that era carry their own risk. A lot of houses shipped with 100-amp panels and two-prong outlets, and Federal Pacific or Zinsco brands, both since recalled, still turn up often. An electrical safety inspection identifies the brand fast, and a panel upgrade retires it for good, with capacity left for whatever comes next.
A label reading Federal Pacific or Zinsco means the panel comes out. A 200-amp upgrade handles the recall and adds capacity a modern house needs.
Aluminum branch wiring is the next call. Loose connections show up as warm cover plates or dimming lights, and we fix the connection itself, not just the outlet.

Shohola Township issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, and like most of Pike County it uses a third-party agency for plan review and inspections instead of running its own building department. We handle the filing, scheduling and inspector walkthrough.
PPL Electric Utilities is the main provider here, with Pike County Light & Power and Penelec covering other parts of the county. A panel upgrade needs a scheduled disconnect and reconnect at the meter, and we coordinate that with your utility. Storm damage to the lines is theirs. Everything from the meter inward is ours.

Shohola Electrical FAQs
Not always, but it's a known risk. Federal Pacific breakers can fail to trip during an overload. If yours carries that label, we recommend replacement rather than waiting, with a written quote and a permit through the township.
Sometimes, but a 100-amp panel from the 1970s often lacks room once a charger's dedicated circuit is added. We check your panel's real capacity first, and upgrade to 200 amps if it's tight or the brand is recalled.
We fix the connection. Swapping an outlet without fixing a loose aluminum splice behind it leaves the real problem, heat at that joint. We use connectors rated for aluminum-to-copper joints, or run new copper where it's needed.
Check your neighbors first. A whole-street outage is the utility's repair, whether that's PPL, Pike County Light & Power or Penelec. If only your house is out, the trouble is usually inside the meter, and that call is ours.
