Pike County sits about an hour and forty minutes from our Newtown headquarters, so we plan the trip properly. Our trucks come stocked for the job you described on the phone, which matters when the nearest supply house is a long way from your driveway in Lackawaxen or Greentown.
Electric service here is split among a few providers. PPL Electric Utilities is the largest, Pike County Light & Power serves one part of the county, and Penelec serves another. When you need a service upgrade or meter work, we coordinate the disconnect and reconnect with whichever utility feeds your home. If the power is out on the pole side, that call is theirs. Everything from the meter into the house is ours.
Pike County is heavily wooded, and trees take down lines here more often than in most places during storms. That is why generator installs and whole-home surge protection are two of our steadiest jobs in the county. The typical Pike County home dates to the mid 1980s, which is good news. Copper branch wiring is standard, and most houses came with a 100 amp or 150 amp panel. Not worried, but curious. Homes from that era in Pike County usually have solid copper wiring and a 100 amp or 150 amp service. The concern is specific panel brands from that period that were later recalled. A quick inspection tells you whether yours is one of them, and if it is, a replacement is a routine job for us.
