Take a walk through a Wyoming County house built around 1974, the county median. The electrical story tells itself room by room.

In the basement, the panel is mostly the original 100 amp unit. It is full, with no room for what you want to add. We replace it with a 200 amp panel that has space for a generator transfer switch and future circuits.

In the bedrooms and living room, the outlets are mostly two-prong with no ground. We replace them with grounded or GFCI-protected receptacles so surge protectors and modern electronics actually have a path to ground.

Behind the walls, the branch wiring may be aluminum. Loose aluminum connections often cause hot outlets in homes from this decade. We secure every one with approved copper pigtails.

In the kitchen and laundry, the range and dryer outlets are frequently the wrong configuration for new appliances. We bring them current.

In the garage, there is rarely a circuit for an EV charger. We add one.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Wyoming County

Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code governs Wyoming County electrical work, and each town runs the code locally. Most townships and boroughs contract with a third-party inspection agency rather than employing an inspector. The agency for Tunkhannock may not be the agency for Nicholson or Factoryville. Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. I have UGI Electric. Does that change anything about a panel upgrade?

Only who we coordinate with. UGI Electric serves part of Wyoming County alongside PPL, Claverack and Penelec. Each has its own procedure for scheduling the disconnect and approving the meter base. We handle UGI's process the same way we handle the others. The panel, the wiring and the permit are identical regardless of the utility.

Do you come to Wyoming County for emergencies at night?

Yes. We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and Wyoming County is inside our regular service area. The electrician on call is local to the region and leaves straight from home. We give you a realistic arrival window on the phone rather than a promise we cannot keep. If we are late, we waive the dispatch fee.

Is my 1974 house safe to add a hot tub or heat pump to?

Probably, after a look at the panel. A 100 amp service, typical for the county's median build year, is usually already near its limit. A heat pump or hot tub needs its own dedicated circuit and a panel with the capacity to carry it. We run a load calculation, and if you need an upgrade, you get the number in writing before deciding.

Can you fix a ceiling fan that wobbles or hums?

Yes, and it is one of the simpler calls we get in Wyoming County. A wobble is usually a mounting or balance problem. A hum often means a failing capacitor or a dimmer that was never meant for a fan. We repair or replace fans and attic fans. We add a proper fan-rated box where one is missing, and make sure the switch matches the motor.
