Electrical Service in and Around Duryea
Duryea's typical home dates to 1952, and it shows. A fuse box, a 60-amp service, ungrounded outlets or a stretch of old knob-and-tube wiring are all still common finds here. We check for each one before quoting the fix.
PPL Electric Utilities powers Duryea. PPL restores outages and repairs the lines outside. Everything from the meter inward, panel, wiring, outlets, is our work. Our electricians live around the borough and also reach Pittston and Wyoming. Call 215-227-7000 any hour, any day.
Common Electrical Projects in Duryea Homes
Fuse boxes are still common in Duryea's older homes, and most insurers want them gone. We swap them for a modern breaker panel, often moving up to 200 amps, so central air or a workshop has room to run.
Knob-and-tube remnants and ungrounded outlets are the other frequent finds. We trace what's live, ground what we can, and handle electrical code violations that turn up during a sale.
We also add dedicated circuits for kitchens and workshops, priced in writing first.
Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Duryea
Duryea Borough issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, and like most boroughs it relies on a third-party inspection agency rather than its own building department. We pull the permit, book the inspection and meet the inspector for you.
PPL Electric Utilities serves Duryea. A panel upgrade or meter change needs a PPL disconnect and reconnect, and we set that appointment. Line damage and outages are PPL's to fix. From the meter in, that's ours, any hour.

Duryea Electrical FAQs
Is there a 24-hour electrician serving Duryea?
Yes. We answer 24/7, 365 days a year, holidays included. Our electricians dispatch from home around Duryea and Pittston, not a distant yard. Call 215-227-7000 any time.
My Duryea home still has a fuse box. Should I replace it?
Most insurers prefer a breaker panel, and fuses are getting harder to find. We check your load, then quote a panel sized for what your home uses now, in writing.
Who do I call when the power goes out in Duryea, you or PPL?
Check outside first. If the whole street is dark, that's PPL's outage to fix. If only your house lost power, the issue is likely on your side of the meter, and that's ours.
Will you pull the permit for electrical work in Duryea?
Yes. Permits go through the borough under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, usually via a third-party agency. We handle the filing and inspection, part of your written quote.
