Hereford's roughly 1,452 residents live in newer housing than much of Berks County, with a median build year of 1985. Copper wiring is the norm here, so the usual worry isn't aging wiring, it's capacity. A 100 to 150-amp panel fills up fast once a heat pump, a hot tub or an EV charger joins the load, and a standby generator adds one more circuit to plan for.
Met-Ed, part of FirstEnergy, is the electric utility for Hereford, with PPL Electric Utilities covering other parts of the county. Met-Ed handles the pole and the meter, and we coordinate any service upgrade directly with them.
In Hereford, as in the rest of Pennsylvania, electrical permits follow the state's Uniform Construction Code. The township contracts that review out to a third-party inspection agency instead of keeping it in-house, which is standard for townships this size. We file the paperwork, set the inspection date, and are on site when the inspector arrives.
Met-Ed is the utility for Hereford. Adding a hot tub circuit, a heat pump or an EV charger station often means upgrading the panel, and that needs a scheduled disconnect and reconnect at the meter, which we book as part of the project. Line issues outside the meter are Met-Ed's to fix. Everything from the meter inward, including the panel itself, is ours.
Our Pennsylvania and New Jersey experts are ready to resolve your electrical woes.

Absolutely thrilled with our electrician Dennis! He was very knowledgeable and polite. Made this process very easy and stress free. We had two light fixtures put in along with an exhaust fan, cleaned up after and everything. Highly recommend this company and their electrician!
