The Thomas Edison difference
Need a Mertztown electrician? Thomas Edison Electric's crews cover Berks County, including this ZIP 19539 community of about 530 people. Topton sits just 1.8 miles away, with Maxatawny, Bowers and Kutztown close behind.
We're a family-owned, award-winning company, licensed under PA075449 and fully insured. Electricians here dispatch from home in fully stocked TEE vans, never as subcontractors. Call 610-782-9000 any hour, and every job starts with a written quote.
Mertztown calls go to a direct employee driving a fully stocked TEE van from home.
Aluminum branch wiring, 100-amp panels and recalled panels are familiar work at this build year.
Met-Ed, PPL or Kutztown Borough Electric, we confirm which one serves your address.

Transparent pricing means written quotes with no surprises.
Mertztown's median home dates to 1972, an age that still commonly brings aluminum branch wiring, 100-amp panels and two-prong outlets, plus the occasional recalled Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel that's due for a panel upgrade. We check the panel brand first on nearly every call here, often alongside a ceiling or attic fan that needs service.
Met-Ed, part of FirstEnergy, and PPL Electric Utilities both serve this part of the county, and Kutztown's own municipal system reaches addresses nearer that borough. We confirm which one feeds your meter before scheduling any upgrade.
Mertztown's township issues electrical permits under the state's Uniform Construction Code, and, as in most of the county, an outside inspection agency handles the actual review rather than township staff. We manage that relationship for you: filing the permit, booking the inspection and being present when it happens.
Met-Ed serves much of Mertztown, with PPL Electric Utilities and Kutztown's municipal system reaching other addresses nearby. A panel upgrade or meter change needs a scheduled disconnect and reconnect with the right utility, and we handle that booking as part of the job. Line repairs are the utility's job. Everything from the meter inward is ours.
Our Pennsylvania and New Jersey experts are ready to resolve your electrical woes.

Absolutely thrilled with our electrician Dennis! He was very knowledgeable and polite. Made this process very easy and stress free. We had two light fixtures put in along with an exhaust fan, cleaned up after and everything. Highly recommend this company and their electrician!

Jimmy made the service call easy. After describing our issue, 2 min max, he already knew what was wrong. He quickly identified, found, and fixed the offending GFI. After years of using Thomas Edison Electric we always refer them to friends and family.

Had a great experience with Michael Van for my initial inspection/walk-through and Steve P and the crew with the install. All of them, including the employees on the phone, were polite and prompt, and I'm very satisfied with my new electrical panel and wiring.
