The Thomas Edison difference

Lansdale Electricians Who Know the Borough Grid

Looking for a Lansdale electrician? Thomas Edison Electric's crews are our own employees, not subcontractors, and they dispatch from home in fully stocked TEE vans. Lansdale is an incorporated borough in Montgomery County, home to 19,011 people, with Montgomeryville, North Wales and West Point close by.

One thing sets Lansdale apart: the borough runs its own municipal electric department alongside PECO. We coordinate with whichever one is on your bill. Most Lansdale houses date to 1958, old enough that fuse boxes and knob-and-tube wiring still turn up. We hold PA license PA075449 and answer 24/7, 365 days a year.

Two utilities, one call

Whether your bill says PECO or Lansdale Borough Electric, we schedule the meter work with the right one.

Fuse boxes retired

A 1958 Lansdale fuse box becomes a 200-amp breaker panel, sized for how the house is used now.

Knob-and-tube traced

We find any live runs still hiding in the walls and replace them with grounded copper.

Outlets grounded properly

Two-prong outlets get a real ground or GFCI protection, room by room.

Direct employees, stocked vans

No subcontractors. Our Lansdale crews dispatch from home, ready for same-day work.

Licensed, insured, rated 4.8

PA075449, over 37,000 jobs completed since 2021, financing available, and a waived dispatch fee if we run late.

What Lansdale's Own Electric Utility Means for You

Most towns here have one electric provider. Lansdale effectively has two. PECO Energy Company serves part of the borough, and Lansdale Borough Electric, a municipal department, serves the rest. Check the name on your bill before you schedule a panel upgrade or service change, since that determines who disconnects and reconnects the meter.

The housing stock adds its own wrinkle. A typical Lansdale home was built around 1958, the era of fuse boxes, 60-amp services and knob-and-tube remnants tucked into old walls. Two-prong outlets with no ground are common too. None of it is rare, just due for an update.

Our electricians are direct Thomas Edison Electric employees who dispatch from home across the borough and the towns around it, in vans stocked before the first call. Call 800-380-6800 any hour, any day.

Common Electrical Projects in Lansdale Homes

Service upgrades top the list. A 1958 Lansdale house usually still runs on a fuse box or an early breaker panel rated for 60 or 100 amps. A 200-amp panel clears room for central air, an electric range and whatever comes next, while either utility handles the meter side.

Rewiring is close behind. Knob-and-tube segments still carrying power get traced and replaced, and two-prong outlets get grounded the code-approved way. Kitchens from that era rarely have enough circuits, so dedicated circuits for the range, dishwasher and microwave are a common add-on. A growing number of homeowners are also asking about EV charger installation once the panel is upgraded.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Lansdale

As an incorporated borough, Lansdale issues its own electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, typically through a third-party inspection agency rather than an in-house department. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection and stay for it, all included in your written quote.

The utility side has a twist here. PECO Energy Company serves part of Lansdale, and the borough's own Lansdale Borough Electric serves the rest. Check the name on your bill; that is who has to disconnect and reconnect the meter for a panel swap or service upgrade. Outages on the lines belong to whichever one serves your block. Everything from the meter in, any hour, is ours.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

Lansdale Electrical FAQs

Does Lansdale Borough Electric change how a panel upgrade works?

Only who we schedule the meter work with. If your bill comes from Lansdale Borough Electric instead of PECO, we book the disconnect and reconnect through the borough. The permit, the wiring and the panel itself work the same either way.

Is my 1958 Lansdale house due for rewiring?

Maybe not entirely. Many 1958 homes just need the fuse box replaced and a few knob-and-tube runs traced out, not a full rewire. We inspect first and give you options in writing, from a targeted fix to a complete rewire.

How do I know if I'm on PECO or Lansdale Borough Electric?

Check a recent bill. The provider name is at the top. If you are not sure, tell us your address when you call and we can help confirm it before scheduling any meter work.

Are the electricians who serve Lansdale your own staff?

Yes. Every Lansdale electrician on our team is a direct employee, not a subcontractor. They dispatch from home in a stocked TEE van and answer 24/7, 365 days a year. Call 800-380-6800 any time.
