A 1957 Woodlyn house came with a 60-amp service, often a fuse box, and outlets with no ground. That was fine for a refrigerator, a washer and a few lamps. Add an electric dryer, a range, a microwave and two window air conditioners, and the old service runs at its limit every summer afternoon.
We fix that at the source. Each big appliance gets a dedicated circuit with the right outlet, so the dryer no longer shares a line with the kitchen. When the panel has no room left, we replace it, usually with a 200-amp breaker panel, and PECO handles the meter. Grounded outlets and GFCI protection in the kitchen and baths finish the job.
