Easton's population runs about 29,739, and the typical house here dates to 1938. That means knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp services and ungrounded outlets are still common finds behind the walls. A fuse box alone limits what a kitchen or laundry room can run at once, and old cloth-wrapped wiring loses its insulation over the decades.

Not automatically, but it limits you. A 60-amp service struggles once a modern kitchen, central air and a couple of space heaters run together, and fuse boxes can't be expanded the way a breaker panel can. We test the load first, then quote a 100 or 200-amp upgrade if the house needs the room.
Yes. It shows up often in a city built around 1938, usually mixed with newer wiring from later renovations. We trace what's still live, replace it, and leave the rest documented so the next electrician who opens a wall knows what they're looking at.
If the block is dark, that's PPL's outage to fix. If your neighbors have power and you don't, or only part of your house lost it, the trouble is usually inside your panel or wiring. That side of the meter is ours, day or night, at 610-782-9000.
Almost always, once we check the panel. A 1938 service was never sized for either. We run a load calculation, and if the existing panel is short on room, we upgrade it alongside the new circuit so both are done in one visit.
