PPL Electric Utilities and Met-Ed, the FirstEnergy company, divide Northampton County between them. Which one you have depends on your address. That determines who we coordinate with when you upgrade your service or replace your meter base. Both utilities need a scheduled disconnect and reconnect for that work, and we arrange it. Downed lines, outages and the drop to the meter are the utility's. The panel, the circuits and everything inside the walls are ours.
The typical Northampton County home dates to 1971. If you own one, there is a fair chance it has aluminum branch-circuit wiring. It may also have a 100-amp panel with every slot used. Ungrounded two-prong outlets in the bedrooms are common too. Warm switch plates and dimming lights when the dryer starts are common symptoms. So is a breaker that trips when you run the microwave and the toaster together. The cures are well established and we quote them in writing.
We also handle plenty of forward-looking work here. That includes EV charger circuits, panel capacity for heat pumps, whole-home surge protection and standby generators. We serve the neighboring counties as well: Lehigh, Carbon, Monroe and Bucks.
