Electrical Service in Flourtown

Flourtown's typical home dates to 1955. Knob-and-tube wiring remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp electrical services and ungrounded outlets are all still common finds in houses from that era.

Kitchen and bathroom remodels are where this usually surfaces. Opening an old wall often reveals wiring that predates GFCI protection, or a circuit already carrying more than it should. We handle the rewiring as part of the renovation, and code corrections if a past update missed something.

Common Electrical Projects in Flourtown Homes

A 1955 Flourtown house has usually been touched more than once, a kitchen here, a finished basement there, but rarely with a full electrical update.

  • Panel upgrades. A 60-amp fuse box becomes a 200-amp breaker panel sized for real use.

  • Ceiling and attic fan installs, especially in rooms with older, non-insulated wiring nearby. See ceiling and attic fans.

  • Code corrections for wiring left behind by past owners or unpermitted work.

  • Data and communication lines run clean through open walls during a remodel.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Flourtown

Flourtown's electrical work is governed by Pennsylvania's statewide Uniform Construction Code. As with most of the county, the township typically hands plan review and inspections to a third-party agency, not its own building department. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection and see it through, folded into the quote you approve.

PECO Energy Company is the utility serving Flourtown. A panel upgrade or new service means a scheduled disconnect and reconnect at the meter, which we coordinate. Downed lines and outages outside are PECO's to fix. From the meter into your home, that's ours, any hour.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

Flourtown Electrical FAQs

I'm remodeling my Flourtown kitchen. Will old wiring be a problem?

Often, yes, and it's better to find out before the drywall goes up. Homes from Flourtown's era commonly have wiring that predates GFCI protection. We evaluate what's behind the wall and price any updates in writing.

Can I add data and network wiring during a Flourtown renovation?

Yes, and it's the easiest time to do it. While walls are open, we run communication and data lines alongside the electrical work.

Is there a 24-hour electrician serving Flourtown?

Yes. We're on call 24/7, 365 days a year, holidays included, and the electrician who responds lives locally. Call 215-947-1400 whenever the problem comes up.

What does a fuse box replacement in Flourtown involve?

We size the new panel to your actual electrical use, pull the permit, and coordinate the meter disconnect with PECO. Most replacements are done in a day.
