Juniata County is split three ways for electric service. PPL Electric Utilities is the primary utility. Met-Ed / Penelec serves other parts of the county. And Valley Rural Electric Cooperative serves parts of it as well. That matters when you upgrade a service or replace a meter base, because each one has its own procedure. We figure out who serves you before we quote and coordinate the disconnect and reconnect ourselves.
Our Juniata County electricians are on our own payroll, never subcontractors. They start each day from their own homes around the area. Each one drives a fully stocked TEE van, so the parts come along. If we are late for the window we gave you, we waive the dispatch fee.
Our coverage runs the length of the county, from Thompsontown, Mexico and Mifflintown to Port Royal and Mifflin. Like the rest of Pennsylvania, Juniata County issues electrical permits at the municipal level under the Uniform Construction Code. Most of the county's townships and boroughs contract plan review and inspections to a third-party agency. So the routine in Mifflintown may differ from the routine in Port Royal or Thompsontown. We keep track of that. Pulling the permit and scheduling the inspection are part of each job, and the cost is in the written quote.
Then there is the utility question, which in Juniata County is a real question. PPL Electric Utilities, Met-Ed / Penelec and Valley Rural Electric Cooperative all serve parts of the county. A service upgrade, a meter base replacement or a temporary disconnect means arranging things with whoever serves your house. Their requirements differ. We handle that. A downed line along the whole road means the utility is your first call. If only your house has the problem, we are your call.
