“ Joan was very knowledgable and efficient at doing his job. He answered any questions that we had and stayed later in the day until the task was completed.

The Thomas Edison difference

Bethlehem Electricians, Employed Not Subcontracted

A Bethlehem electrician from Thomas Edison Electric is always our own employee, never a subcontractor passed off as one. We cover all six of the city's ZIP codes, 18015 through 18020 and 18025, inside Lehigh County. Allentown is 5.5 miles from the city center, Catasauqua 5.8, Center Valley 6.8 and Coopersburg 8.0, and our crews handle that whole stretch.

We hold Pennsylvania license PA075449, carry full insurance, and have completed over 37,000 jobs since 2021, with a 4.8-star rating on Google to go with it. Every van is fully stocked and leaves from an electrician's own home, not a central yard. The price is written down before work starts, and a late arrival waives the dispatch fee. Call 610-782-9000 any hour, 24/7, 365 days a year.

Electrical Service Throughout Bethlehem

Bethlehem's typical home dates to 1958, close enough to the surrounding era that familiar problems show up: knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp services and outlets with no ground pin. Older sections of the city carry more of it than newer pockets do, but we check every panel the same way regardless of the neighborhood.

Spread across six ZIP codes, Bethlehem covers a lot of different housing, from older rowhomes to postwar single homes to newer construction near the edges. PPL Electric Utilities is the primary electric utility citywide, and any service upgrade or meter change gets scheduled with them directly as part of the job.

We treat every part of Bethlehem the same way: our own electricians, a written quote first, and a 24/7 line behind it. Whether the address is near Center Valley or closer to Allentown, the process does not change.

Common Electrical Projects in Bethlehem Homes

At a median build year of 1958, Bethlehem homes commonly carry knob-and-tube remnants, fuse boxes, 60-amp services and outlets that were never grounded. Older sections of the city see more of this than newer construction, but we check the panel on every visit regardless.

The projects that come up most in Bethlehem:

Whichever ZIP code you are in, the panel tells us where to start.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility in Bethlehem

The City of Bethlehem issues electrical permits under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code. As in most of Lehigh County, plan review and inspection go through a third-party agency rather than a city building department running it directly. We file the permit and schedule the inspector as part of every job.

PPL Electric Utilities serves Bethlehem. A panel upgrade, new service size or meter relocation needs a scheduled disconnect and reconnect with PPL, and we arrange that timing so the house is without power for the shortest time possible. A citywide or block outage is PPL's repair. From the meter inward, any hour, that work is ours.

Electrical service

I was really impressed with Don and Engeli and the work they performed for me. We had a discussion on the best way to run the new line for the septic pump and I really appreciated the extra effort they made to keep the esthetic of my home's exterior. They were pleasant and professional and all my fans and lights work great! They were patient and waited until I approved everything. A great team!

Bethlehem Electrical FAQs

Which ZIP codes in Bethlehem do you cover?

All of them. We serve 18015, 18016, 18017, 18018, 18020 and 18025 the same way, with the same employee electricians, written quotes and 24/7 line. Where in the city you live does not change how we staff or price the job.

Does an older Bethlehem home need rewiring for a code violation?

Not always a full rewire. Many code violations come down to a few outlets, a missing ground or an outdated panel label. We inspect first, then quote exactly what needs correcting rather than assuming the worst.

Can Bethlehem electricians add a data line to an older home?

Yes. Communication and data line installation is common in homes built before anyone planned for a router or a home office, and we route new lines without tearing into walls more than necessary.

Is a Bethlehem power outage PPL's issue or yours?

Check the street first. If the outage covers your block or more, that is PPL's repair. If only your home lost power, or part of it did while the rest of the house works fine, the trouble is likely on your side of the meter, which we handle any hour.
