PPL Electric Utilities is the primary electric utility in Lackawanna County, but it is not the only one. Two boroughs, Blakely and Olyphant, run their own municipal electric systems, and Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative serves part of the county too. If you live in Olyphant, your utility is the borough, and a service upgrade means we coordinate with the borough electric department rather than PPL. We confirm which one you have before we schedule the job, so the disconnect and reconnect happen when they should.
The boundary is always the meter. Poles, lines and the meter belong to the utility. The panel, the wiring and everything you plug in belong to you, and that is the part we service.
We work the whole county: Scranton and Dunmore, Dickson City, Olyphant, Jessup, Peckville, Archbald, Jermyn and Carbondale, Clarks Summit, Dalton and Waverly, and Moosic, Old Forge, Taylor and Moscow. We also cover neighboring Luzerne, Wayne, Wyoming, Susquehanna and Monroe counties.
