A 1938 build year means the wiring rarely matches what a modern household needs. Ungrounded two-prong outlets, a fuse box instead of a breaker panel, and 60-amp service that can't handle central air and a car charger at once are the norm around Slatedale, not the exception.
Most of our visits start with a panel upgrade, moving the house to 200 amps with modern breakers. If an inspection turns up wiring that no longer meets code, we quote the correction in writing and pull the permit ourselves. Slatington and Germansville see the same process.
Slatedale's permits fall under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code, handled through the township, which like most of Lehigh County typically relies on a third-party inspector instead of its own building department. We take on the filing and the inspection scheduling as part of the job.
PPL Electric Utilities powers Slatedale, and Met-Ed serves other pockets of the county. A panel replacement or new service means we coordinate the disconnect and reconnect with PPL directly. A wider outage is on PPL to restore. Anything from the meter into your house, any hour, is on us.
